The Ballina Hot Meal Centre has been operating for 27 years offering meals to the homeless, financially disadvantaged, elderly, lonely or those persons suffering from illness. Since September 2020 Ballina Hot Meal Centre has been operating as an independent organisation due to the previous organisation who established the meal centre discontinuing funding due to COVID in March 2020.
The Centre operates 2 days per week and provides up to 250 meals per session to those in need and everything is undertaken by volunteers.
The Centre is operated and run solely by volunteers, some of whom have been with the organisation since its inception. There is only limited funding available to purchase additional product or staples so every effort is taken for maximum advantage of the goods and produce that is collected from the generous and supportive supermarkets.
